Do you want a high-gloss white kitchen or another shade of white?

When considering the color of your new kitchen, it is important to be aware of your own representations. Many people think of glossy surfaces and shiny tiles when they think of the color white. High-gloss kitchens have a modern, chic look that looks spacious and gives a clean, organized feel. However, you can also choose a matte white kitchen. Matte colors give a calmer feel because there are no reflective surface areas. Food, dishes and appliances do not stand out as much in this environment, and stains are also much less noticeable.

A white high-gloss kitchen is easy to make original

You can easily combine all kinds of white with all other colors. Both in a white high gloss kitchen and in a matte white kitchen you can use all kinds of stylish details and accents. There is literally nothing that does not combine with white. All different colors, shapes and materials can be used to give a unique character to your white kitchen. This gives you endless possibilities to make your kitchen atmospheric and unique. A white kitchen really doesn't necessarily mean a sterile look reminiscent of a hospital.

Playing with shades in a matt white kitchen

A matt white kitchen looks and feels very different from a high-gloss version. In addition, you can also choose another whitish shade. Some people find real white too harsh but that doesn't mean you have to go completely away from the tranquility and spaciousness that this color brings. For example, you can go for off-white, ice white, pearl white, polar white or magnolia white. Other soft pastel colors also give a similar effect. Of course, it is important to realize that true white combines with any other color. That effect diminishes the further you deviate from this neutral factor.

Adding your own atmosphere with details and elements of other materials

It is very easy to create your own feeling in a white kitchen. You can do so by choosing a completely different material or color for certain elements. For example, you can use different types of tops, work with wooden accents or have stained glass windows placed in the cabinet doors. There is almost nothing that does not combine with white, so dream away. You can thus uniquely give a traditional, modern, warm or professional look to your kitchen - without reducing the resale value or attractiveness of your home with things that other people may find repulsive.

Creating depth in a white kitchen with a black top

So the great thing about a white kitchen is that you have endless possibilities to play with other elements. White is often recommended in a somewhat smaller space. This has to do with the fact that this color reflects light well, which automatically makes the room feel larger. Funnily enough, this effect is enhanced by adding black elements to the kitchen. You can do that by installing black countertops, for example. As the two colors contrast, the depth of the surrounding space is accentuated.

White kitchen with wood top or accents

Wood is a beautiful material that evokes a cozy, traditional feeling for many people. If you like a clean, spacious and uncluttered kitchen that still feels cozy, then a white kitchen with wood accents is probably the best solution for you. You can use wood for all sorts of small and larger details within your white kitchen. For example, it lends itself very well to extra shelves on a (white) wall where there are no cabinets. A wooden kitchen worktop also combines fantastically with a predominantly white kitchen. So you get the spacious feeling of white when you perceive the whole room at once, but also the warmth and characteristic presence of the wood when you are working.

White kitchen handleless

More and more modern kitchens use doors for the cabinets where you don't really see the handles. These are incorporated into the sides of the material. As soon as your hands know where to look for the handles, all the doors are at least as easy to open as in a traditional kitchen with knobs or bow handles. The advantage of a handleless kitchen is that it looks much more peaceful, modern and sleek. Of course, you also get these characteristics by using a lot of white. That's why more and more white handleless kitchens are being produced.

You can play with gray in the top and other details in a white kitchen

The combination of white, gray and black has been widely used for decades. This is because it is wonderfully neutral and you can use all kinds of different colored furniture, appliances and artwork in it without any particular color combination interfering. In white kitchens, shades of gray are often used in the walls, floors and details. For example, a gray kitchen countertop is much less prone to staining and also does not reflect as much light. Beware, however, of colors that are too close to white. Light gray and other too-light pastel colors do not combine as well because they confuse your eyes. It's better to choose a shade of gray that contrasts sufficiently.

Our topper: white kitchen with anthracite top

The most popular color combination with white is the stylish anthracite. Interior designers have been using this combination for years because it brings all the benefits of the white-black combination, with an added natural feel. Anthracite is dark enough to contrast wonderfully against your white cabinets, walls and ceilings. As a result, you create a lot of depth and clear lines in your kitchen. It also has natural unevenness that makes it feel nice when preparing and consuming food and drinks.
